Uzm. Dr. Yaprak Kalkan, the founder of Smile Academy, was born in 1988 in Istanbul. She graduated from Kadıköy Anadolu High School in 2006 and from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2011. During her doctorate in the Department of Periodontology at the same university, she went to the University of Turku, Finland to conduct experiments for her research on patients with diabetes.
