Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Can KARACA was born in Istanbul in 1982. After completing his high school education at Bahçelievler Super High School in 2000, he entered Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine that same year. Between 2000 and 2006, he successfully completed his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. During his medical education, he won the 14 March Medicine Tournament twice as a member of the Cerrahpaşa Faculty basketball team. As of 2007, he started his General Surgery residency at the Department of General Surgery, Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. From the early years of his residency, he became interested in laparoscopic surgery and further developed himself in this field. In 2009, he participated in the Special Metabolic Surgery Clinic at Istanbul German Hospital and took part in the first laparoscopic metabolic surgery (surgical treatment of Type 2 Diabetes) performed in Turkey. In 2011, he received training in 'Metabolic Surgery' at the Taksim German Hospital Metabolic Surgery Unit, which is part of Universal Hospitals. In 2012, he successfully completed his General Surgery residency at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.
