Kerim Ünal, born in 1985 in Burdur, started his medical education at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine after graduating from Adem Tolunay Science High School in 2003. After graduating in 2009, he worked as a physician in the Istanbul 112 emergency team. From 2010 to 2016, he completed his specialization training at Akdeniz University, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He worked together with Prof Dr Ömer Özkan and Prof Dr Özlenen Özkan in 5 face and 2 arm transplant surgeries, including Turkey's first face and arm transplants. Between 2016-2018, he worked at Adıyaman Training and Research Hospital. He gave lectures in the field of plastic surgery at Adıyaman University Faculty of Medicine. Kerim Ünal, who has extensive experience in microsurgery, performed major surgeries in Adıyaman that had not been done before.
He won first place awards in the assistant competition in 2011 and the specialist competition in 2015 at the National Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Congresses. He has 3 domestic and 8 international publications.
In 2017, he received advanced training in rhinoplasty in a fellowship program with Barış Çakır.
In 2018, he attended the rhinoplasty course organized by Teoman Doğan.
