Born in Ankara in 1960, he completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara. He studied at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 1977 and 1983, and began his professional career in 1983 as a Medical Doctor.
Between 1983 and 1986, he worked at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation as part of his compulsory medical service.
He started his Plastic Surgery training (residency) at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1986, completing it in 1993 and becoming a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. During this residency, he worked for two months in Hand Surgery at Istanbul French Pasteur Hospital, and for 12 months as a Research Fellow at the University of Utah's Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, where he obtained a certificate in MicroSurgery and MicroCirculation.
