Assoc. Prof. Dr. Furkan Erol KARABEKMEZ, born in Malatya in 1975, completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Malatya. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine, which he entered in 1992, in 1999.

In 2002, KARABEKMEZ began his specialization training in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Selçuk University, Meram Faculty of Medicine; at the end of his residency, he worked for 15 months as a Research Fellow in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic, USA. In 2010, he became a specialist and continued his joint studies with the Department of Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic as a Research Collaborator, with remote access. After completing his compulsory service between 2010-2012 at Konya Training and Research Hospital and Ağrı State Hospital, in 2012 he was appointed to the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Abant İzzet Baysal University, Faculty of Medicine. During this period, he worked for 2 months as a visiting fellow in Münster, Germany. He obtained his Oral, Facial, and Maxillofacial Surgery specialization by application to the Ministry of Health. After obtaining an associate degree diploma from Anadolu University, Department of Justice, he received the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and was appointed to Keçiören Training and Research Hospital in the same year. He has served at the Ankara Region 2 General Secretariat of Public Hospitals and the General Directorate of Public Hospitals of the Ministry of Health. He currently continues his duties as Clinical Education Supervisor in the Plastic Surgery Clinic at Keçiören Training and Research Hospital and as an instructor at the University of Health Sciences.
