I started working as a research assistant in the Department of General Surgery at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine with the Medical Specialization Exam held in September 1988. I completed my specialist training in 1994. In order to fulfill my compulsory service, I worked as a general surgeon in the Orhangazi district of Bursa.
In 1994, I started working as a fellow at the Plastic Surgery Clinic at University College of London in London, England. Here, I worked with internationally recognized experts in plastic surgery and also conducted studies on wound healing. I made presentations at national and international congresses on rescuing diabetic and non-healing wounds using maggot therapy and negative pressure application on wounds.
